How to Find Padel Partners in Tashkent: The Complete Guide

When I started, I knew exactly zero people who played padel. I'd stand by the court with my brand-new racket, watching four strangers ping a ball off the glass, thinking: "So who's going to invite me?" Three seasons later, I have a group chat of forty people, a regular Tuesday four, and the opposite problem entirely: who do I turn down this week? You can't play padel alone — it always takes four. So the first skill worth building isn't your backhand; it's learning how to find people. Let's get into it, properly, with all the Tashkent detail and none of the fluff.

Why partners are a beginner's number-one problem

Padel is always played two against two. Four people, a court that's 20 by 10 metres, glass walls — and without a full lineup there simply is no game. This isn't tennis, where two of you can rally for hours. No fourth, no match. So for a beginner, the question "who do I play with" is sharper than "how do I play."

The second half of the problem is level. Padel is wonderfully beginner-friendly: the rules are simple, the walls forgive your mistakes, and the ball stays in play longer. But if you're a 2.0 and you get put against a 4.5 pair, you'll spend the whole hour chasing balls and have no fun at all. The reverse is true too — strong players get bored babysitting someone who just picked up a racket. That's why level-matching matters every bit as much as simply having four bodies on court.

The good news: those two jobs — finding people, and finding people at your level — are exactly what PlaySport is built to solve. Here's how to use it in practice.

Figure out your level honestly

In padel, level is measured on a scale from 1.0 to 7.0. It's the international standard, and knowing where you sit matters — otherwise you'll either struggle or make others struggle. Rough markers:

• 1.0–2.0 — you're holding a racket for the first time, or you've played once or twice. You're learning to make contact and read the bounce off the glass.
• 2.5–3.5 — you play regularly, you can sustain a rally, and you grasp the basics: who's at the net, who's at the back, why the bandeja exists.
• 4.0–5.0 — a confident amateur: you control the tempo, you hit víboras and bandejas on purpose, and you read your opponent.
• 5.5–7.0 — advanced and pro. There aren't many of these in Tashkent yet, and you already know them by name.

The big tip: don't overrate yourself. Almost every beginner pencils in half a point more than they actually are. Set an honest level in your profile and the system will pair you with equals. If you're unsure, start at the lower edge — far better to pleasantly surprise your partners than to disappoint them. And if you genuinely have no idea where you stand, a couple of sessions with a coach will sort it out faster than any self-test.

Start with the game feed on PlaySport

The fastest route onto a court is the match feed. This is where people who already have one to three players post "looking for the rest" listings. You open the feed, filter by date, level, and a court that works for you — and you can see exactly where you can slot in this very week.

Games come in two flavours, and the difference is fundamental:

• Open games — you join with one tap, instantly. No back-and-forth: hit "Join," you're in the lineup, the host gets a notification, and the details land in your inbox. This is the perfect entry point for a beginner: there's nobody to negotiate with, you just show up and play.
• Private games — you send a join request and the host approves it. People run these when they want a level-balanced lineup or a specific crowd. Don't take a decline personally — usually the host is just assembling one particular level.

My advice for newcomers: spend your first few weeks in open games only. It's the lowest barrier to entry there is. In a couple of weeks you'll have played with a dozen people, and one of them is bound to become a regular.

Create your own game once you're a few

The moment you've got even one partner — a friend, a colleague, someone from a past game — you can stop searching and start assembling. The PlaySport logic is simple: you have one to three players, and you need the rest up to four.

1. Create a game in the match feed with the date, time, and court.
2. Pick the type: open (anyone drops in with one tap) or private (you approve requests).
3. Set a level range — say 3.0–3.5 — so equals show up.
4. Publish it, and the missing players find you.

When I want to guarantee an evening happens, I create an open game with a clear level and an after-work time. The lineup usually fills within a few hours. Honestly, that's the main reason I stopped depending on my friends' moods: I no longer have to talk anyone into "come on, let's go" — I just publish a slot.

Use the player directory and availability slots

The game feed is "here and now." But there's a tool for building connections over the long haul — the player directory. You can search people by level and by availability: who's free on weekday evenings, who plays weekend mornings, who's near your district.

So that people can find you, fill in your availability slots in your profile — your recurring windows by day of week (say Tuesday and Thursday from 7 pm). It works both ways: you see who's free in your window, and players at your level see you. In my experience, a completed profile with an honest level and real availability brings in the most invitations of anything you can do.

A small tip about messages

When you join a stranger's game, don't go silent. Every game has a participant chat — drop a quick "Hi, I'm Nadia, 3.0, I'll be on time, bringing my own racket." It takes the edge off and sets a friendly tone right away. People remember the ones who are easy to talk to before the first ball is even hit.

Where people actually play in Tashkent

The padel scene in Tashkent is growing literally every month — padel is, after all, one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and our city is no exception. New courts keep appearing, clubs are opening, and little crews are forming. Keep an up-to-date list of venues with addresses and prices in the courts section.

A few practical observations about our city:

• Peak hours — weekdays from 7 pm to 10 pm, and weekend mornings. Courts at these times get booked in advance, so reserve a slot and assemble your lineup a day or two ahead.
• After-work games — the liveliest format in Tashkent. Plenty of people gather straight from the office, and it's a great way to break in: everyone's relaxed and happy to take a newcomer.
• Women's and mixed games — there are more of these all the time. If you're a woman and you think "it's all men there," that's no longer true. Look for the mixed or women's tag in the feed, or create your own game and state the format.
• Telegram communities — many clubs have their own chats where open slots get dropped and a last-minute fourth gets hunted down. Ask about the chat at the court or from people you've played with; getting added is usually dead simple.

Etiquette when you play with strangers

Reputation travels at the speed of light in our community — when it comes to padel, Tashkent is still a small town where everyone knows everyone through one handshake. A few simple rules will make sure you get invited back:

• Show up on time. Fifteen minutes late is a quarter hour stolen from three other people. The only thing worse is a last-minute cancellation.
• Split the court cost fairly and promptly. Don't wait to be reminded — send your share to the chat after the game.
• Be honest about your level. Don't inflate it to sneak into a strong game, and don't deflate it out of false modesty. An even game is nicer for everyone.
• Bring balls sometimes. Not every time, but in rotation. It's an unspoken thank-you to the group.
• Encourage your partner, don't dissect their mistakes. Nobody came to the court to be criticised. "No worries, we'll get the next one" works a hundred times better than a post-mortem.

If you're easy and pleasant to play with, you'll be added to the chat before you finish the second set. Tested and confirmed.

Build a regular core — and keep it alive

Open games are like meeting people. A regular crew is a relationship. Once you've gathered 8–10 reliable people, start a shared chat and lock in a recurring slot: say Tuesday and Thursday evenings. A fixed time solves 90% of the search problem — you never have to scramble for a fourth again, because they're already there.

My regular four came together exactly this way: three of them joined my open games on different weeks, we got chatting, I threw everyone into one chat — and now we're in our second year of playing Tuesdays no matter what. A few things that keep a group alive:

• Appoint one person to handle the booking (often that's me — the one who starts the chat and finds the fourth). When everyone's responsible, nobody is.
• Rotation is normal. Someone's on holiday, someone's under the weather. Keep a couple of "reserves" at the same level in the chat to plug gaps fast.
• Play up a level sometimes. The fastest way to improve is playing against people a touch stronger than you. Every couple of weeks, invite a stronger pair over or drop into a tougher open game yourself. It'll feel rough at first, then you'll notice you've genuinely got better.

Amateur tournaments as a way to meet people

Once you feel steady, go to an amateur tournament. It's not scary and it's not "pros only" — quite the opposite. Formats like americana deliberately reshuffle pairs, and in a single evening you'll play with six or seven different people. It's the best way there is to multiply your circle in just a couple of hours.

Keep an eye on the listings in the tournaments section. Even if you don't win — and you're probably not turning up to win your first time — you'll walk away with five new contacts in your phone. I picked up half my current chat at exactly these evenings.

What to do this very week

Don't put it off — finding partners is easier now than it was when I started. Here's an honest plan for the next few days:

1. Fill in your profile: an honest level and real availability slots.
2. Open the match feed and join one open game this week.
3. After the game, swap contacts with whoever you clicked with.
4. Next week, create your own open game and assemble the lineup yourself.
5. Alongside that, read up on the common first-month mistakes and how to choose your first racket — it'll save you a couple of disappointments.

A couple of months from now, you won't even remember standing by the court alone. And a season after that, you'll be the person who starts the chat, books the court, and always finds a fourth. Trust me, it's the best role on the team.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find players if I'm brand new and don't know anyone?

Open the match feed and join any open game at your level with one tap — no advance introductions needed. A couple of weeks of games like that and you'll have your first regular partners.

What's the difference between open and private games?

You join an open game instantly with a single tap. A private game requires a join request that the host approves — that's how they assemble a lineup of a specific level or crowd.

How do I know my level in padel?

Level is measured on a scale from 1.0 to 7.0; most beginners land around 2.0–3.0. Set an honest figure in your profile, and if you're unsure, take a couple of sessions with a coach — it's the most accurate way.

Is padel beginner-friendly?

Yes, it's one of the most beginner-friendly sports there is: simple rules, walls that forgive your mistakes, and a ball that stays in play longer. Even after your first game you'll be in rallies, not just chasing the ball.

Where do people play padel in Tashkent?

There are more and more courts in the city — see the up-to-date list with addresses and prices in the courts section. Peak activity is weekday evenings and weekend mornings.

Can I play if I don't have a partner?

Absolutely. That's the whole point of PlaySport: you join someone else's game that's short of players, or you create your own and assemble the lineup through the player directory. You don't need a partner — just the will to get on court.
